Overall, our bridge had to support a weight of about 53 Newtons. Since the weight was in the middle of the truss, the weight was divided equally between the two sides. Most of the work was done by the beams on our truss. They pulled on the bottom two gussets creating tension. The tubes between the middle gusset and the bottom two were pushed upon creating compression. When our bridge gave out, it was the beams that broke. caused by tension.
